Part one is here:  http://www.dailykos.com/...

40th: Brick (EVEN) OPEN
Madera, Los Banos, Farm Towns.
This is a very rural majority Hispanic district (61%).  However, they don't vote in very high numbers whatsoever.

41st: Silver (R+9) Linda Halderman (R)
Fresno, Clovis
The suburb of Clovis and Fresno's Whiter North Side make this a very Republican district.

42nd: Bright Green (D+17) Henry Perea (D)
Fresno
This majority Hispanic district is very safe for Democrats.  Fresno and Clovis actually fit very well into two districts.

48th: Pale (R+7) OPEN
Visalia and Farming Towns
A 35% White Republican district? Only in the Central Valley or South Florida.  I was happy how nice this COI district came out.

Back up to the Coast, for:
43rd: Pink (D+25) OPEN
Santa Cruz County, mostly
This had to go a couple places I didn't want it to for population purposes, such as Watsonville, which really belongs with Salinas, but such is life.

44th: Light Blue (D+13) Luis Alejo (D)
Salinas, Gilroy, Hollister
An very Hispanic district, drawn in a somewhat ugly manner but preserving COI.  Hollister, which became famous when a clothing company inexplicably decided to use it as a name and advertise itself as "Hollister SoCal" is here as well.

45th: Olive (D+6) Bill Monning (D)
Monterey Peninsula, Paso Robles, Farm Towns
John Steinbeck country.  Lots of agriculture plus tourism in Monterey and along the Coast (Big Sur).

Photobucket

46th: "Tomato" (D+1) Sam Blakeslee (R), Katcho Atchadian (R)
San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Arroyo Grande
A good slice of the swingy Central Coast, competitive every cycle.

47th: Purplish (D+11) Das Williams (D)
Santa Barbara, Goleta, Lompoc, Ojai
CHUCK TESTA COUNTRY. (If you haven't watched his ad, google or youtube it.)  This district is dominated by the very blue coastal/college town of Santa Barbara, home of legendary parties.  Either Obama or Whitman overperformed here, I'm not sure which, but it won't be competitive anyways.  Also contains "Little Denmark," otherwise known as Solvang, which is a really cool town to visit if you're ever in the area.

53rd: Sea Green (D+15) OPEN
Oxnard, Ventura
Urban Ventura County is very Blue.

54th: Black (R+3) Jeff Gorell (R)
Simi Valley, Camarillo, Santa Paula, Fillmore
This district Leans R, but is getting more Hispanic (which I guess is true of nearly the entire country).

Photobucket

49th: Green (R+4) Connie Conway (R)
Delano, Tulare, Porterville, Farm Towns
This one should be a Toss-Up within the decade.  It's a 2:1 Hispanic:White ratio for VAP, but Likely Republican for now.

50th: Blue (R+14) OPEN
Kings County, Wasco, Oildale, some of Bakersfield
I think this area is finally getting bluer, ever so slowly; Brown did better than Obama here, although some of it could've been fallout from the illegal immigrant maid thing.  Taft, probably the most conservative town over 5,000 people in California (under 20% Obama) is also here.

51st: Brown (R+3) Shannon Grove (R)
Bakersfield
This Bakersfield district Leans R but should be a Toss-Up by decade's end as well.  Bakersfield has changed drastically from the time when it was filled by Okies.

52nd: Forest? Olive? Some Type of Green (R+13) Jean Fuller (R)
Bakersfield, California City, Ridgecrest
Bakersfield and stretching eastward into the High Desert.  Brown only did 0.2% worse than Obama here as well.

Photobucket

56th: Blue (D+1) Sharon Runner (R)
Lancaster, part of Palmdale
This is a Hispanic Toss-Up district.  North LA County hasn't had Democratic representation in decades, I would guess.

57th: Green (R+5) Steve Knight (R), Cameron Smyth (R)
Santa Clarita, part of Palmdale
A Likely Republican district in North LA County.  Santa Clarita is pretty conservative, but I've never been there, so I have nothing more to add.

Photobucket

55th: Gray (D+1) Tony Strickland (R), Fran Pavley (D)
Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Malibu, bit of Los Angeles
A very wealthy district where Obama overperformed, but I'm calling it a Toss-Up.  Malibu is very helpful for the Dems here.

62nd: Purple (D+9) OPEN
San Fernando Valley
The most conservative part of Los Angeles, not that it's saying much.

63rd: Periwinkle (D+19) Felipe Fuentes (D)
San Fernando Valley
A Hispanic Valley district

64th: Light Blue (D+20) Alex Padilla (D)
San Fernando Valley
Another Hispanic Valley district

65th: Pink (D+18) Bob Blumenfield (D)
San Fernando Valley

66th: Green (D+21) Mike Gatto (D)
Los Angeles
Not sure what this area is called.  It's very wealthy.

67th: Medium Blue (D+31) Gil Cedillo (D)
Eastern Los Angeles
Very Hispanic

68th: Salmon (D+36) John Perez (D)
Eastern Los Angeles
Very Hispanic, Brown outperformed Obama (maid scandal?)

69th: Olive (D+30) Kevin De Leon (D)
Central Los Angeles
An absolutely tiny district.  Brown's biggest outperformance of Obama (3%)

70th: Orange (D+27) Mike Feuer (D)
Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Hollywood
Not much more to say.

71st: Blue (D+25) Julia Brownley (D), Betsy Butler (D)
Santa Monica, Coastal LA

72nd: Purplish (D+43) Mike Davis (D)
South Central LA.  Bluest district in the state, 1% better than the Berkeley one.  Only 3% White.

73rd: Yellow (D+35) Holly Mitchell (D)
Culver City, Los Angeles.  Plurality Black.

74th: Lightish Green (D+40) Rod White (D), Curren Price (D)
Inglewood, Hawthorne, South Central
Very poor, combination of Black and Hispanic.

75th: Pink (D+12) OPEN
Burbank, Glendale, La Crescenta
Still very blue.

76th: Brown (D+13) Carol Liu (D), Anthony Portantino (D)
Pasadena, La Canada Flintridge, Altadena, some smaller towns
Pasadena anchors this district and keeps it Safe Dem.

77th: Green (D+13) OPEN
Alhambra, El Monte, Rosemead, San Gabriel
Asian district

78th: Pale Blue (D+3) Ted Lieu (D)
Torrance, Beach Towns
A good shot for Craig Huey here in this Toss-Up district.

59th: Red (D+27) Steven Bradford (D)
Carson, South LA
I mis-numbered so this is the 59th.  Hispanic district.

79th: Purple (D+10) Bonnie Lowenthal (D)
San Pedro, Long Beach, Palos Verdes Peninsula
Hispanic district along the coast.

80th: Rose (D+14) Warren Furutani (D)
Long Beach
Safe Dem.

5 Toss Up, 8 GOP, and 25 Dem in this section
